PL501 - Communities and Public Planning (3 credits)

Topics covered in this class include planning history and basic concepts, the public planning process, issues of growth, economics and personal values in communities, growth control and methods, and ways to maintain rural character or create a sense of place and involve the public.

Students taking this course typically range from the novice who simply thinks the topic is interesting, to those intending to or currently working in planning and seeking a review (AICP). As such, the topics cover a wide range of information and rely on readings that run the gamut from intro to thought provoking.
